So, I just jumped into this whole paper doll DIY craze, and let me tell you—I have no idea what I’m doing. You ever get that moment where you think, “Hey, this looks easy enough,” and then bam, you’re knee-deep in tiny paper body parts and semi-glue-stuck fingers? Yeah, that’s where I ended up.

This whole RUMI vs. ZOEY fashion show thing? I thought it would be cute to give it a shot, you know, for nostalgia or whatever. But of course, first, you’ve got to have the right setup. My table looked like a mini cyclone visited, leaving behind edible glitter (I know, right?) and half-torn pieces of scrapbook paper.
Blind bags were involved, naturally. I mean, it seemed so simple: a surprise in every bag. But have you ever opened one of these blind bags only to stare at a decidedly… questionable accessory? Like, “Oh cool, another neon pink scarf with that odd crinkle sound,” as if my dolls hadn’t suffered enough already.
And then there was the ASMR part. Trust me, the sole reason I didn’t completely lose my mind was partly due to those oddly satisfying crinkling sounds. Somehow, trimming away stray bits of paper while listening to some whispery nonsense convinced me I was achieving something, anything, beautiful.

The makeup though—what a riot. Imagine the tiniest makeover session with bobby pins and leftover palette shadows that I didn’t know existed in the dark recesses of my cabinet. Between you and me, I gave their “miniature skin” a skincare regime that included a dollop of hand cream smudged strategically by my pinky finger.
Okay, but those transformation sessions were half hilarious, half tragic, and a little ASMR-transformative, I suppose. I mean, tapping a tiny plastic eyeshadow brush against a paper doll’s face is as therapeutic as it sounds. Not.
So, ultimately, my RUMI almost looks ready for the runway, while ZOEY kind of resembles a craft fair reject. But hey, someone once said that beauty is in the imperfections, or it was just me mumbling that to myself between sips of cold tea.
Anyway, check out bizarre hobbies like this on some intriguing blog sections. My eyes still hurt. I need coffee. Ugh.
