why does everyone hate diy nails?

You ever just sit and wonder why we bother with all these nail trends? Like, yesterday, I saw a girl at the coffee shop with nails that looked like they had mini aquariums on them (seriously, with little fish charms and everything!). So I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe she’s on to something,’ and I dive into this black hole of nail hacks. Does anyone else start with DIY nails, all excited, and end up with your fingers stuck together?

Especially when they start saying you need a bobby pin for polka dots or an old toothbrush for that ombre effect (honestly, whose idea was that?). I mean, my hands are less ‘fashion statement’ and more ‘modern art disaster’ by the end. And don’t even get me started on the rhinestone trend. I glued one rhinestone on and suddenly it looked like my nail had a growth.

But here’s the kicker: all those times you see this perfect marble design or a galaxy look on Instagram, I guarantee you there’s at least an hour of frustration behind them. I figure, if they can magically end up with Pinterest-perfect nails, there must be some secret society initiation that I’m missing out on. Or maybe I just don’t have the patience? Guess my hands are destined to stay in the ‘what were you trying to achieve?’ gallery.

Whatever. Maybe next week I’ll try on one of those retro nail sticker packs or something instead. Less mess, more sass. My eyes still hurt. I need coffee. Ugh.
