why are scalp facials a thing?

Seriously, scalp facials? Are we so desperate for pampering that our scalps need a spa day now? There’s exfoliation. There’s steaming. There’s massaging. What next, do we get cucumber slices placed delicately above our ears for maximum hair zen? I mean, do we really need this level of attention dedicated to a part of our body that literally sits under a sea mop? Here’s the kicker: it’s supposed to fix dandruff caused by the same dry shampoo everyone’s been obsessed with! It’s like creating fireworks to solve a fire problem. Unreal.

Just think about it—we’re basically signing up for a therapist for our hair roots now. Spending precious time and money to rub goop into our heads while half-asleep in a chair. As if the rest of your body isn’t already demanding outrageous lotions and creams and serums. But sure, let’s add scalp glycolic acid peel to the shopping list because who doesn’t want salon-fresh hair? It’s just absurd. And what’s with the ‘skinification’ of hair? Hair isn’t skin! Facials for keratin protein strands makes about as much sense as moisturizing your car tires.

And yet, people are lining up for this chance to pretend they’re doing something edgy and revolutionary. But who’s benefitting here? The hair industry, rubbing their hands with glee at your wallet’s imminent demise. Call me skeptical, but I’m not convinced. Just wash your hair like an adult and call it a day. Whatever.
