I’m just going to throw this out there: trying to follow a makeup tutorial when there’s a barking dog and a blender going full tilt downstairs is an extreme sport. The chaos of a typical morning before school is basically a mix between an obstacle course and a game of who can find the most random item in under 30 seconds.

Let’s be real, crafting that ‘natural look’ (which is anything but natural) while simultaneously packing your backpack and trying not to spill your cereal all over your algebra homework is wild. So, there’s me staring at the mirror, trying to not poke my eye out with a mascara wand while also wondering why I thought trying out trendy hairstyles was a good idea.
Because let’s talk hair for a second. The tutorials make it look like everyone can just whip out a sleek ponytail in seconds. Wrong. My hair has its own personality (probably needs a therapist) and decides to be as rebellious as possible on Monday mornings. Honestly, it’s like my hair knows when I’ve got only three minutes left and it says, ‘Oh, you thought today was going to be easy?’

Anyway, it doesn’t help when the beauty guru in the video uses words like ‘blend seamlessly’ and I’m here awkwardly tapping my brush like I’m beating a bongo drum. I’m not sure if I’m blending my foundation or just creating new abstract art on my face.
Toss all the determination, scrambled priorities, and a reality much less glamorous than those influencer posts, and you’ve got my daily beauty practice. My reflection often ends up looking like I’ve got a rogue blush smear that decided to go rogue and take a huge scenic route across my cheeks. But hey, school’s calling, and there’s no time to fix it all.
Reality bites and so do Monday mornings. My eyes still hurt. I need coffee. Ugh.
