trying to pack for spring in europe is a mess

by Author

I just opened my closet, and it’s utter chaos trying to plan a spring trip to Europe. I mean, Switzerland might as well be playing a prank on us with its weather. One minute you’re sunny and having a coffee by the lake, and the next, you’re running for cover from what feels like a mini snowstorm. I swear my closet is mocking me—none of my clothes seem to match the unpredictable weather.

So, here I am, plagued by the eternal question: what to pack? First things first, you’ve got to think about layers. Europe in spring is all about being prepared for surprises. You’ll need the whole nine yards, ranging from a complete set of breathable t-shirts to a chunky knit sweater (or two). That pastel cardigan that’s never warm enough, yet somehow always manages to take up too much space in your suitcase? Pack it. You’re going to need it for those all-too-deceptively pleasant mornings that turn into chilly afternoons.

And don’t even get me started on shoes. The struggle is real. You need practicality because cobblestones are literally everywhere (Blame the Romans? The ancient city planners?), but also a hint of style because, well, Europe. Good luck finding boots that check both boxes without murdering your feet by the end of your sight-seeing tour. Can someone invent stylish steel-toed walking boots?

Speaking of chic impracticality, I found this list of bizarre travel gadgets recently. The list includes something like a shoe protector specifically for cobblestones. Really? Maybe it’s got a real knack for adventure.

In case you’re wondering, dresses are a must. Those lightweight, flowy types barely touching your knees. They’ll make you look like you just stepped out of a Parisian postcard until the wind picks up and exposes you to the elements (and, heaven forbid, people). How regal. Have a trusty trench coat ready, though—it doesn’t only serve you warmth but also a style saver when the elements inevitably get funny.

Anyway, I should probably get back to stuffing my dreams of an organized suitcase into my not-big-enough-for-sanity luggage. My eyes still hurt from staring at beige and pink fabric. I need coffee. Ugh.
