Monday Madness: Start as You Mean to Go On ๐ฅ
My Monday began like every true New Yorkerโs morningโrushed, slightly chaotic, and with that ‘I woke up like this’ look that requires three hours of sleep deprivation to achieve. Classes in conceptual design and textile exploration kicked off my week, and trust me, if fabric swatching doesnโt sound thrilling to you, then youโve never had Professor Marsh critique your work. Honestly, the fear is the secret ingredient to all great art.
Tuesday Trials: Finding Inspiration… Everywhere ๐
Tuesday brought along a surge of inspiration. Whether it was the vibrant street art of NYC or the random subway musician doing a heartfelt rendition of “Wonderwall” (because of course), finding design inspiration in New York City is like finding a tourist in Times Squareโinevitable. Sketching at the park might also have been involved, because if fashion school has taught me anything, it’s that cafรฉs and parks are just secondary campuses.
Wednesday Wins: Technology Meets Creativity ๐ค
Wednesday was all about marrying technology with creativity. Armed with my trusty iPad and Apple Pencil, I delved into digital illustration. Sure, the occasional typo makes my stylus cry, but hey, Picasso probably couldn’t work a mouse either. Besides, art on the subway is a modern Picasso, right?
Thursday Thrills: New York Chronicles ๐ถโโ๏ธ
Thursday was a day for exploration! Wandering through NYC’s art galleries reminds me why I chose to study hereโthereโs nothing like the thrill of seeing a piece of art that makes you question your life choices… in a good way. And just when you think youโve had enough, rememberโno amount of art can prepare you for NYC winter. Brrrr.
Friday Frolics: Fashion Not Fatigues ๐ฌ
The week ended on a high note with an experimental fashion show hosted by the students. You know it’s a true creative hub when there are far too many feathers and unconventional materials involvedโand no, Iโm not talking about Lady Gagaโs wardrobe circa 2008. Watching my fellow students bring their vision to life is a reminder that sleep is optional, but fashion is eternal.
